PLOT
A mysterious group of ninja called the Sora-nin from the Sky Country makes a surprise attack on Konoha, this is because Konoha nearly destroyed the Sky Country during the last Shinobi World War but they survived and now they're after Konoha and the Fire Country for revenge.
The group starts attacking Konoha causing mass mayhem, with flying ninjas come out with winged-mechanical devices bombarding. A boy comes all the way to inform Konoha that his village had been attacked and he was looking for his sensei, who was currently in Konoha to go with him to heal the injured at his village.
A 3 man team consisting of Naruto, Sakura and Hinata are sent along to help the boy's village and they accompany Amaru, the boy and Shinnou his sensei back to the village. The team travel through a forest full of eerie beasts and poisonous animals by small rowing boats down a river. A Sora-Nin suddenly appears and they hide by the riverside with Naruto and Amaru hiding underwater until the Sora-Nin goes. When they resurface Amaru gets caught in the weeds underwater and loses his precious scalpel (a present from his beloved sensei). While helping Amaru with the weeds, Naruto notices that Amaru is in fact a "she" due to her breasts present. Naruto blushes while at the same time a poisonous piranha-like fish bites him and he faints. Later on, Naruto wakes up still blushing, also because Amaru was sucking the poisonous blood out of the wound on his thigh thus saving Naruto. Naruto asks her if he's a "she" and suggests that Amaru has feelings for her sensei and he gets slapped.
Meanwhile at Konoha, the Sora-nin retreats because they were out of chakra to maintain flying, so Konoha sends another special team to look for their base. Sai approaches the ships which is near the beach on one of his ink birds to attract attention while Shikamaru and Kakashi hides behind some rocks near the shore waiting for the right time to infiltrate and attack. At Orochimaru's lair, Orochimaru is now ill because the body transfer jutsu he uses is close to expiration. Kabuto is attending to him and tells Sasuke that the Sora-nin is attacking Konoha to which Sasuke gives an "I don't care" reply. Orochimaru orders Sasuke to get a man who is able to help him perfect his reincarnation jutsu.
Naruto and company finally reach Amaru's village and find the village had been badly attacked and some parts are now in ruins with the inhabitants nowhere to be seen. Amaru cries and runs around trying to find some villages she unknowingly triggered a trap with a bunch of kunai flying towards her, her sensei Shinnou steps in and protects her but fails. Naruto, Sakura and Hinata run to the scene but it was too late, Shinnou dies. After Amaru comes to her senses they continue to look for villages. Sasuke is on his way to the village.
Later on through a series of events Hinata gets separated from Sakura and Naruto. Naruto and Sakura find themselves in front of a evil monster that feeds on the darkness of human souls and somehow took over Amaru. Sakura proves to be no match for the beast, the creature senses that Naruto has a huge dark energy/power inside of him so it taunts Naruto and tries to make him use that power, saying "He cannot save anyone without it" this makes Naruto remember about his failure in saving Sasuke and is emotionally unstable taking on the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox form, eventually the four tails state. After fighting for a while he turns back to normal when Sakura gains consciousness and gives Naruto the seal which Jiraiya gave to her earlier.
Naruto tells Amaru to ignore the darkness in her heart which finally resulted in the beast getting defeated. Sakura wakes up in Naruto's arms and punches him - awkwardly. They decided to separate with Naruto going on to look for the villagers and Hinata and Sakura going back to get help. Amaru, who was supposed to go with Sakura stays to help Naruto. They then found some old ruins in which Shinnou mentioned earlier and enters the ruins. Shinnou is inside - safe and sound saying something about conquering the world with the power of darkness. Amaru, excited that her sensei is alive runs to hug him, Naruto notices something's not right and Shinnou laughs at Amaru for trusting him. Shinnou tells that he's been researching on the power of darkness for about 15 years and he's finally found it in Konoha now he only needs secret scroll with a reincarnation jutsu or something written on it. He then transforms into a huge hulk-like creature with Naruto charging towards him only to be outmatched again and again beating Naruto badly.
Shinnou in the hulk-like form also tries to convince Naruto to use the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox's chakra with Amaru lost in tears while Shinnou and Naruto duke it out. Eversince she was small she had a weird illness and nobody liked her, fearing that they'll be infected only shinnou cared for her and managed to cure her. Naruto tells her not to throw her feelings away while evil, Shinnou mocks her. She finally admits her love and feelings to which Shinnou sort of paused and Naruto lands a hit. Sasuke appears suddenly saying "Orochimaru needs help with a reincarnation jutsu" to Shinnou and Shinnou gives him a scroll saying that's enough of help. Sasuke attacks with Chidori Senbon which attacks Shinnou's cells and he turns back to normal, who then flees the scene and Sasuke after him. Naruto tells Amaru to go find the villagers while he goes after Sasuke. He finds Sasuke in a room and asks him "What are you doing here?". In the same room is a cocoon which is absorbing dark chakra, Shinnou fuses with the cocoon and attacks Naruto and Sasuke. With tentacle arms Shinnou tries to absorb their chakra, Sasuke turns to Curse Seal level 1 and releases evil chakra and Naruto who got Sasuke's plan turns to his Nine-Tailed Demon Fox form sending a lot of chakra. After breaking free, Sasuke ascends to Curse Seal Level 2. The creature acts on its own now after absorbing Shinnou.
In the meantime, Konoha successfully infiltrates the Sora-nin's base. Amaru finds Hinata and the villagers in a cell and frees them all and going off in lifeboats. Naruto appears again and orders Amaru to go, she refuses and Sasuke throws her in by force. Naruto also forces Sasuke onto the lifeboat with rasengan(Naruto whispers something to Sasuke) who then escapes. Remembering Jiraiya once said that Naruto had the willpower to never giveup he creates some shadow clones and starts to destroy the ruins when all was destoryed he fell. Amaru, from a distance sees Naruto and grabs a pair of Sora-nin wings and goes for him upon reaching him, she grabs him and they fall together. Jiraiya suddenly pops out with Gamakichi and catches the two saving them.
Later on, Naruto wakes up in Amaru's arms. Sakura and Hinata are jealous. Sasuke goes back and gives Orochimaru the scroll, who then asks if something good had happened. Sasuke then goes off to train and remembers Naruto's whisper "I'll definitely bring you back to Konoha." "Sasuke!"

PLOT
The opening scene of the movie shows a prediction of what should happen in the future of the movie. It shows Naruto battling a monster, only to be killed by it. A funeral is held for Naruto in his home village, to which Sakura Haruno, Rock Lee and Neji Hyuga are shown to attend, along with others. The setting then returns to a few days previous, where a man named Yomi attacks a shrine to retrieve the spirit of Mōryō, a demon who attempted to take over the world and create his "Thousand Year Kingdom". Since he is lacking a body, Yomi offers his as a temporary substitute until they can retrieve Mōryō's original one.
The only threat to Mōryō's plan is a priestess named Shion, who has the ability to seal his spirit away once more. He raises a stone army from their slumber to attack the rest of the world while his four subordinates go to eliminate Shion. They are given special chakra creatures to enhance their strength.
To deal with the threat, Konohagakure sends out many advance teams to stall the stone army. Naruto, Sakura, Lee and Neji are sent to guard Shion and deliver her to the shrine where Mōryō's body is kept. They fend off Shion's four would-be assassins, and, afterwards, Shion prophesies Naruto's upcoming death. Shion's total acceptance of "fate", as well as her selfish attitude, provokes Naruto into antagonizing her. As they head for the shrine, they are again ambushed by the assassins and, ultimately, Shion is killed.
This turns out to be a ruse: the dead "Shion" is actually her servant acting as a decoy. After Neji orders Naruto to escort Shion to the temple alone, Shion explains that her predictions work by using others' lives to protect her own. Naruto insists that he will not die, and likewise will keep Shion safe.
With teamwork, Sakura, Lee and Neji defeat the assassins, and at the mountain temple where Mōryō's body is kept, Naruto and Shion find the stone army waiting. Naruto holds the army back while Shion heads inside to begin the sealing ritual. Yomi is already inside, and tricks Shion into beginning the technique with him inside the barrier, allowing Mōryō's spirit to reunite with his body. With the stone army being destroyed by Kakashi, Shikamaru, Guy and Temari, Naruto comes to rescue her. About to see her prediction of his death(the opening scene) come true, Shion uses her power to change Naruto's fate. She is able to tap into her true powers, intending to kill herself and Mōryō to save Naruto. Naruto stops her seconds before her death, and creates a gigantic Rasengan with their combined chakra (Chō Chakra Rasengan [literally: Super Chakra Spiraling Sphere]) to destroy Mōryō.
After the ending credits, Naruto asks Shion what she intends to do now. She replies that Mōryō was a demon created by the dark thoughts of men, and that there is bound to be another Mōryō someday. Because of this, she says that she must continue the line of priestesses that will suppress demons like Mōryō. Shion then asks Naruto if he will help her (a double entendre asking if he will father her child), much to the shock of Sakura, Kakashi, and Lee. Naruto, clueless as usual, agrees without realizing the second meaning of her question.

Bleach Movie 3 (Fade to Black , I Call Your Name)
Bleach: Fade to Black, I Call Your Name, is the third film, scheduled to be released in Japan on December 13, 2008. This film’s screenplay was written by Natsuko Takahashi, who is a screenwriter for the anime series. The official film website gives the tagline of “Sayonara, Rukia”.
Kon has become one of the main characters in the movie. Also during the trailer is Kisuke Urahara seen in his shinigami captains robes. According to an interview with Tite Kubo, he has been very involved with the scripting of this movie and hopes that “it will be remembered in your hearts.” He also states that the movie ties in to the main manga storyline.
The movie parallels earlier scenes involving Ichigo and Rukia, and explores their relationship.
PLOT
Mayuri Kurotsuchi is in his laboratory when he is attacked by a mysterious scythe-like object. He suddenly loses control and involuntarily hits his control board. This triggers a huge explosion of reiatsu which envelops the Seireitei in a cocoon. As Kenpachi Zaraki rushes to see what happened, the reiatsu explodes, destroying the Seireitei. Additionally, this explosion sends the shinigami into a state of amnesia, causing them to forget about the existence of Ichigo and Rukia.
Rukia, watching the destruction of the Seireitei, is shocked. A similar scythe hurtles towards her, and she feels something inside her disappear. Her heart and memories have been stolen. Meanwhile, Ichigo senses danger. He realizes that he had temporarily forgotten about Rukia’s existence. Kon has another coded letter from Rukia (similar to the one given to Ichigo just before she leaves to be executed in Soul Society).
Ichigo and Kon then go to Kisuke Urahara’s store, only to discover that Urahara, too, has completely forgotten Rukia. However, he does say that a part of Seireitei was destroyed and that it may be related. Ichigo says that Rukia is “a precious nakama,” causing Urahara to smirk. He opens a gate to transport Ichigo and Kon to Soul Society.
Rukia finds herself in a small cabin in Inuzuri. A twin sister and brother are beside her, calling her name and jumping towards her. When she questions who they are, they say she promised to give them names some time ago and ask her to tell them their names. Rukia tries to remember, and then finally recalls having taken care of the twins in the very cabin she was in. However, she could not remember the names she had chosen. Not remembering her time as a shinigami, she asks them what she was doing. They tell her that she had been sleeping for a very long time.
Meanwhile, Ichigo has entered Soul Society. Many shinigami (including Renji Abarai, seeing him accidentally release his Vizard form, proceed to attack him. Inside Byakuya’s mansion, Ichigo finds Byakuya Kuchiki looking at the picture of his wife Hisana Kuchiki. He tells him that Hisana was raised in the 78th district of West Rukongai (Inuzuri), and Ichigo thanks him and then leaves. Ichigo is able to detect Rukia by her smell and runs to the cabin.
Rukia is on the roof of the cabin, looking over at her friends’ graves. As Ichigo arrives, Rukia asks him, “Who are you? I don’t know you.” Ichigo was shocked, replying, “It’s me! Ichigo! Don’t tell me you don’t remember!” Rukia tried to remember Ichigo, but just before her memory returned, she started to have a headache and was taken away by the twins. In the cabin, she asks the sister if she had actually been awake and not sleeping. The sister said she did not know for sure. Rukia felt that she was about to remember something, and held her head, panting in agony. She then collapsed and was transported by the twins.
Ichigo appears to be in a bad mood as he sits elsewhere. Kon asks Ichigo if he is sad that Rukia has forgotten him, and is responded by Ichigo striking him. He then says that Ichigo is connected to Rukia, simply by being the one shinigami who didn’t forget her. Then he leaves, and Ichigo, still thinking, pulls out Rukia’s letter. He has a flashback in which Rukia is writing a letter, which she refuses to let him see, claiming it was a “surprise for later.”
He then is fighting again, against Tōshirō Hitsugaya, Ikkaku Madarame, and Yumichika Ayasegawa. Hitsugaya is about to deal the final blow when Renji intervenes, saying that his soul feels that Ichigo is not the enemy. Ichigo calls his name, but Renji is angered, saying “Don’t call me by my first name!” However, Ichigo continues to call him by “Renji.” Several captains enter to fight Ichigo and Renji. However, Urahara enters with Yoruichi Shihōin. He tells Ichigo and Renji to leave and save Rukia.
Rukia then wakes up to find the twins working in Mayuri’s lab. They tell her that they plan to destroy those that try to take Rukia from them. They ask her why she wants to protect the shinigami. Suddenly, the wall is broken down, revealing Ichigo and Renji. Ichigo asks her to remember, saying that the Rukia he remembers would never lose herself in such a way.
The siblings are disturbed by this and try to convince Rukia to leave him. Instead, she asks him to repeat his name. Rukia is suddenly able to remember her attempted execution, and chokes out Ichigo’s name. The sister declares that she would never forgive Ichigo for trying to steal away Rukia, and that she, her brother, and Rukia would become one. The three are suddenly combined, resulting in Dark Rukia. Renji deals with other enemies so that Ichigo can do what he needs to for “that woman.”
Rushing to Dark Rukia, Ichigo is forced to fight her. He doesn’t swing his sword to attack, instead simply evading her attacks. He calls for her to remember, Dark Rukia says that she will erase her memories of him, thus destroying their bond. Ichigo retorts by saying that because he still remembers Rukia, their bond cannot be broken. Dark Rukia is almost ready to cut off Ichigo’s head, when Byakuya uses his kidō to stop the move. He and Renji say that Rukia is turning into a hollow and that they must destroy her.
Ichigo says again that he is bonded with Rukia, to which Byakuya replies that he can do as he wishes. He steps out, breaking the kidō. Dark Rukia tries to attack Ichigo again, but he says that it is his turn to give her his power. He thrusts his zanpakutō into her, and she transforms into a shinigami, immediately collapsing into his arms. He hugs her with one arm as Byakuya and the other shinigami appear to be regaining their memories.
Finally, Rukia is able to move again and brushes Ichigo’s hand away from her face. He greets her, saying, “Yo,” before she turns to the injured twins. She goes to see them. As they complain that they don’t have anyone but Rukia, she consoles them, saying that they have each other and naming them Homari and Shizuku. The two lose consciousness and die, leaving Rukia crying and calling their names.
In the final scene of the movie, Rukia is on top of a hill, looking at a letter given to her by the twins. Ichigo enters. Rukia asks him if he was going home, to which he replies yes. She says that he saved him, and he tells her that it was her that saved him first. Ichigo suggests that perhaps they were connected before they even met, and that their bond was based on that connection as well as their memories. He bids her farewell, calling her “shinigami,” to which she replies, “It’s not shinigami…It’s Rukia Kuchiki.”

Plot
In Karakura Town, unidentifiable spirits begin appearing en masse. While attempting to deal with these strange souls, Ichigo Kurosaki and Rukia Kuchiki meet Senna, a mysterious Soul Reaper who wipes out most of them. Senna refuses to answer any questions, so Ichigo is forced to follow her while Rukia tries to find out what's going on.
Meanwhile, in Soul Society, the real world is suddenly reflected in the sky, so Tōshirō Hitsugaya and Rangiku Matsumoto are sent to investigate. They meet up with Ichigo and discuss the events at the Urahara Shop, where Kisuke Urahara explains that a dimension between Soul Society and the real world, known as the Valley of Screams, has expanded to the point that it is connecting the two worlds.
The souls Ichigo saw earlier are known as "Blanks," souls that were lost in the space between the worlds and have been stripped of their memories. The Valley of Screams is composed of these Blanks, but they alone could not be responsible for the size to which it has grown. He goes on to explain that the lost memories of the Blanks will have formed into a single being known as the "Memory Rosary," and he has Ichigo track this being down.
Senna is eventually revealed to be the Memory Rosary, and a fair amount of the Gotei 13 shows up to deal with the problem. However, a mysterious group appears, identifying themselves as the "Dark Ones," and set their sights on Senna. The ancestors of the Dark Ones belonged to the Ryuudouji clan, who were one of the strongest noble families in Soul Society before they were exiled. Despite Ichigo's efforts, they succeed in capturing Senna.
Within the Valley of Screams, the Dark Ones attach Senna to a device powered by the Blanks. As concurrently explained by both the Dark Ones and Mayuri Kurotsuchi, the Blanks are naturally attracted to memories, which they lack. Senna, being composed of nothing but memories, will attract the Blanks, causing a chain reaction that will collapse the entire dimension. This in turn will cause the real world and Soul Society to collide, potentially annihilating both. The Dark Ones explain that their actions are to get revenge on Soul Society: they were Soul Reapers over a millennium ago, but were exiled and have since adapted to the Valley of Screams.
Unwilling to give up on Senna, Ichigo finds the portal into the Valley of Screams on the river. As he enters it, Rukia heads to Soul Society to get reinforcements. Since the only available portal into the Valley of Screams exists in the real world, and the process that will destroy both Soul Society and the real world will complete within an hour, General Yamamoto orders that the Kidō Cannon be fired at the dimension to obliterate it first. Yamamoto refuses to order a rescue mission with such a tight time frame.
Within the Valley, Ichigo finds himself overpowered by the sheer number of Blanks the Dark Ones have at their command. He is saved by the timely arrival of Kenpachi Zaraki, with lieutenant Yachiru Kusajishi on his back. Aside from Zaraki, Soifon, Tōshirō Hitsugaya, Izuru Kira, Byakuya Kuchiki, Rangiku Matsumoto, Tetsuzaemon Iba, Shūhei Hisagi, Ikkaku Madarame, and Yumichika Ayasegawa have also arrived to help. The group makes short work of most of the Dark Ones, leaving Ichigo to battle their leader, Ganryu. Though it takes Ichigo longer and takes a larger toll on him, he is victorious as well.
Despite having stopped the collapse of the Valley of Screams, the process is far enough along that the effect persists. Senna, now in control of the Blanks, sacrifices herself to use their power to push the two worlds apart once more since she did not want Ichigo to die, thus saving the inhabitants of both Soul Society and the real world.
Extremely weak, Senna asks Ichigo to take her back to the graveyard so that she can see her name on her gravestone. Though the gravestone does not have her name, Ichigo tells Senna that her name is on it, and as her vision is weak due to her life fading away, she believes him. Content that she once lived in the town and assured of her own separate existence, Senna evaporates. Rukia explains that once the power of the Blanks has faded, their memories of Senna will fade along with them. However, after the credits, Ichigo seems to remember Senna when the red ribbon he bought her floats down from the sky to him, and a girl resembling Senna is seen running past him.
New characters
- Senna , Voiced by: Chiwa Saito (Japanese), G.K. Bowes (English), is created from the memories of souls ejected from the circle of life, and is called the Memory Rosary. When she transforms into a Soul Reaper, she wears the standard Soul Reaper uniform with a large red ribbon tied around her waist. Senna appears in the PSP video game Bleach: Heat the Soul 5 as a playable character.

Ganryu believes that he should be the one to rule the Soul Society and is ready to destroy anyone who gets in his way.

To promote the film, the opening and closing credits of the Bleach anime from episode 151-154 use footage from the film. Tite Kubo also published a special manga chapter focusing on Hitsugaya's past to further promote the film.
Plot
An artifact known as the "King's Seal" is stolen during transport from Soul Society by an unidentified Soul Reaper and two arrancar-resembling girls who control fire and lightning. During the attack, Tōshirō Hitsugaya corners and seems to recognize the Soul Reaper, who immediately stabs him in the stomach. In the middle of battle, Hitsugaya abandons his post to pursue him and leaves his squad behind to fend for themselves. After the battle, Seireitei suspects Hitsuguya of treason and orders his immediate capture. The whole 10th Division is then put on house arrest at which time they can surmise whether or not the division should be abolished.
With the whole of Soul Society looking for Hitsugaya, Ichigo accidentally stumbles upon Soifon as she is conducting an investigation of the transport site. Soifon informs him of the events happening in Seireitei and dispels the kido surrounding them. As Soifon disappears with her crew, Tōshirō makes his presence known and passes out in front of Ichigo. Awakening in the Kurosaki residence, Tōshirō refuses to explain what's happening. In the midst of their discussion, Ichigo is attacked by the two arrancar before he can force the issue more. Tōshirō escapes, continues to avoid capture, and things only look worse when the Soul Reaper thief, identified as Sōjirō Kusaka uses Hyōrinmaru, a sword identical to Hitsugaya's, to injure Shunsui Kyōraku. Tōshirō's capture is then made top priority and his execution is approved.
Meanwhile, back in the human world, Rukia has caught up with Ichigo. The gang exchange information, and Rukia reveals rather surprising, in-depth knowledge of Hitsugaya's personality, as well as some rather accurate guesses as to what Hitsugaya plans to do next. During the talk, Ichigo realizes what might be troubling Hitsugaya and leaves to find him.
Through his wandering to avoid capture, Tōshirō eventually manages to track Sōjirō down, where it is revealed that the two managed to manifest the same zanpakutō. Because this is a taboo in Soul Society, they were forced to fight to the death. Tōshirō did not wish to but was left with no other option as Kusaka attacked, claiming that he was the only one worthy of Hyōrinmaru. In the fight, Kusaka is dealt a serious wound. Before the battle could be decided, the Military Corps carried out his execution. Cursing Central 46 and Soul Society, Kusaka died and was reborn in Hueco Mundo, where he became a hollow and started his plans of revenge against Soul Society. Once he learned of the King's Seal and its power, which allows the user to freely manipulate time, space, and matter within a small space, he leapt on the opportunity to settle the score with both Hitsuguya and Seireitei.
Using it, Sōjirō teleports Tōshirō and himself to Soul Society, needing the power of Tōshirō's bankai to break the seal. When Tōshirō refuses, Sōjirō breaks the seal himself, having learned "bankai" with the help of the King's Seal. However, because he lacks the control Tōshirō possesses, the power goes berserk and threatens to destroy both Seireitei and the real world. With much help, Ichigo and Tōshirō manage to destroy Sōjirō's dragon-like "bankai" form. Returned to his regular form, Sōjirō and Tōshirō have one last clash. Kusaka is defeated and dies finally understanding that he really wasn't worthy of Hyōrinmaru. In the end, Tōshirō is cleared of all charges and the King's Seal is restored, allowing Tōshirō to finally put his past to rest.

Vaizard
Vaizard People come to the world with subconcious trust, curiosity and need for attention. With age they become selfaware and develop a unique blend of dreams, fears, love, selfishness, pride, compassion, slyness, grace, hatred, and other traits that form their character. But before they reach adulthood, their trust, curiosity and dreams often waver and disappear. They become plain, dull, egocentric, or twisted. They only live to survive.
Vaizards are free. They have strong hearts, strong wills, sharp minds and healthy bodies. They can achieve anything they wish for, they enjoy true happiness every day. But what makes the difference?
The Vaizards (Visored in English pronunciation) are a group of rogue Shinigami who have "illegally" acquired Hollow powers.
While the term vaizard is spelled in the manga using kanji meaning masked army (kamen no gunzei), it is pronounced as the English visored (vaizādo). In several fan translations of the anime and manga, they are referred to as the "Vaizard", an archaic word meaning mask.
The Vaizards are the antithesis to the Arrancar, Shinigami who have obtained Hollow powers. Having begun as Shinigami, the vaizards appear entirely human, and barring those times where they are using their powers are indistinguishable from ordinary Shinigami. To gain access to their Hollow powers, a vaizard dons a Hollow mask. This allows them to augment their Shinigami abilities with Hollow powers, as well as giving them access to some of the generic Hollow abilities. Their spiritual pressure likewise changes into a mix of Hollow and Shinigami. This process of donning one's Hollow mask is referred to as "Hollowification".
It is unclear what the vizards are after. The current members of the vaizards have been shown to be former Captain or Lieutenant class Shinigami. They are considered criminals by the Soul Society for committing the ultimate taboo of acquiring Hollow powers; their status as former leaders of Soul Society also marks them as traitors. The vaizards are also rejected by Hollows, due to their former status as Shinigami. It is because of this that it can be presumed that the only side the vaizards are on is their own. Regardless, they seem to be valuable allies-to-be in the battle against Sōsuke Aizen's army of arrancars, as Kisuke Urahara mentioned. The vaizards have not shown any sort of hierarchy, seeming to prefer a loose-knit organization.
Plot Synopsis
The existence of Shinigami/Hollow hybrids is first hinted at early in the series. In order to regain his Shinigami powers after being stripped of them, Ichigo Kurosaki has his Chain of Fate severed by Kisuke Urahara in order to force him to regain his lost power before becoming a Hollow. Ichigo is only able to succeed once he begins transforming into a Hollow. Ichigo's transformation happens out of sequence, his mask forming first instead of his body breaking apart and reforming, a sign of his resistance to becoming a Hollow, and he emerges as a Shinigami wearing a Hollow's mask, which he breaks off. After he arrived in Soul Society, the Hollow mask reappears on his person on several occasions, even though he repeatedly discarded it, to block mortal and fatal blows. In his fight against Byakuya Kuchiki, Ichigo's inner Hollow took some control of his body, causing his mask to reform around his face. Ichigo is able to regain control and tear off the mask before the transformation completes.
Ichigo later discovers that there are other Shinigami who have acquired Hollow powers besides himself. Shinji Hirako, a "boy" carrying a Zanpakutō and a Hollow mask, reveals that these renegade Shinigami call themselves the vaizards. Shinji tries to convince Ichigo to join their group, saying that only he can teach Ichigo how to control his Hollow form and keep it from taking over and destroying everything Ichigo cares about. Ichigo initially refuses Shinji's offer, but relents after realizing he can't control his inner Hollow on his own. Ichigo insists that he's merely using them to learn how to control his inner Hollow.
To accomplish this task, Shinji knocks Ichigo unconscious so he can face his inner Hollow on common ground. As this happens, Ichigo's body transforms into a uncontrollable Hollow form, which the vizards take turns fighting in order to keep it in check. Ichigo eventually manages to overcome and subdue his inner Hollow (in 62 min and 30 sec) , and begins training with the vizards to have better control over his new powers. Ichigo abandons his training when the town is threatened, despite having little control over his new powers compared to the more experienced vizards. It is later shown that the vizards are preparing for battle with unknown intentions (They may be preparing to go battle Aizen).
Power & Abilities
Vaizard Mask: The Vaizard remains in complete control while wearing their masks, unlike Ichigo's early unstable transformations. As suggested by Aizen, the fusion of the two spiritual entities allows these Shinigami to reach levels of power far surpassing that of either Hollow or Shinigami.
The Vaizard use their Hollow powers to augment their existing Shinigami abilities, granting them massive increases in speed, stamina, and strength.
The only known side effects to the vaizard are the specific time limits, though this can be overcome through training and every time the mask is used, the vaizard's voices echo horribly as a consequence of both their normal voice and their inner hollow's voice speaking at the same time.
- Enhanced Speed
- Enhanced Stamina
- Enhanced Strength
- Cero: They also gain access to some Hollow abilities, such as the Cero blast.
- Mask Shielding: Bodily harm can seemingly be ignored while wearing their masks, as demonstrated by Ichigo's Hollow during his unwilling transformations. The Hollow mask can only be maintained for a certain period before its effects wear off: Ichigo can only hold his transformation for short periods (eleven seconds at first), while the other Vaizard have seemingly no limit to how long they can last..
- Power Augmentation: with the acquisition of the mask via the subjugation of ones inner Hollow. A vaizard gains access to a additional and separate source of power, in addition to the Shinigami powers one already possesses. The accumulation of both powers together greatly augments the powers of the vaizard beyond what a Shinigami and/or Hollow alone would be capable of.
- The Vaizard's Zanpakutō function in the same manner as those of standard Shinigami; however, none of them have explicitly used their releases in combat yet, excluding Ichigo and Kensei. The Vaizard seem to prefer their Hollow-like powers to their Shinigami abilities.
While it is made clear how Ichigo gained his Hollow powers, it is not shown exactly how the other Vaizard gained theirs. What is known is that Aizen was instrumental in the Hollowfication process, although it seems to spread more or less like an infection and it is known that aggressive emotions accelerate the process; though how they gained their current status as vaizards is unknown, but most likely involves the direct intervention of Urahara.
Shinji hints that Ichigo's conflict with his inner Hollow is a common symptom, however. Aside from the dangerous method used by Urahara, the Hōgyoku could allow a Shinigami to use Hollow powers, but it has only been shown doing the opposite. However, Urahara is known to have used the orb to try to return the Vaizard to their previous selves, although the first attempt failed, him using the orb did turn them into more complete hybrids which allowed them to eventually control their new power.
Characters
There are eight known vaizards aside from Ichigo Kurosaki. Five of these are men and the other three are women. Three vaizards speak kansai-ben, a dialect spoken in Osaka and Kyoto. All vaizards are former Shinigami Captains or Lieutenants from approximately 100 years before the main storyline.
Shinji Hirako
Shinji Hirako (Hirako Shinji) is the former Captain of the 5th Division, preceding his Lieutenant Sōsuke Aizen, and the unofficial leader of the vaizards. While he initially appears trying to recruit Ichigo into their ranks, he is shown giving orders once Ichigo decides to accept the offer. An early design of Shinji can be seen in the first chapter's cover art, making it clear he was planned well before his introduction. Shinji's character is somewhat comical, adding a bit of levity to situations that are otherwise serious. He seems to like annoying his associate, Hiyori Sarugaki, which usually earns him a slap from one of her sandals. He also appears to have a history of referring to cute girls he meets as his 'first love', complete with a deadpan look on his face despite the obvious lie (he apparently never did this with Hiyori, further annoying her). One of his previous acclaimed crushes was Lisa Yadōmaru, a fellow visored, and his current is Orihime Inoue. During several points in the anime, Shinji's outfit is depicted to look like Lupin the III, likely as a homage on the part of the animators.
Shinji's
Hollow mask resembles a pharaoh's mask. Shinji is very skilled with his Hollow powers, using Cero blasts to easily deal with Grimmjow Jeagerjaques. The video games also depict him being able to split the Cero blasts into a pyramid shaped attack. Not much has been revealed about Shinji's Zanpakutō, as he rarely uses or even visibly wears it. The hilt and sheath are red. None of his release states have been shown, and the times that he does seriously fight he seems to rely more on his Hollow mask.
Love Aikawa
Love Aikawa (Aikawa Ravu), former Captain of the 7th Division, is a tall man sporting sunglasses, a spiked afro, and a jogging suit. He seems to be very laid back, usually reading Shōnen Jump or some of Lisa's erotic manga in his spare time. He and Rose seem to be close friends. His Zanpakutōs hilt is in the shape of a heart, and he carries its sheath on a tōju hanging from his shoulder like a messenger bag. His zanpakuto's name has not been revealed nor it's abilities
Kensei Muguruma
Kensei Muguruma (Muguruma Kensei) is a vaizard and a previous Captain of the Gotei 13. He served as the 9th division Captain with his Lieutenant Mashiro Kuna.
Mashiro Kuna
Mashiro Kuna (Kuna Mashiro) is the former Lieutenant of the 9th Division under Kensei. A somewhat ditzy girl who wears a white bodysuit and goggles in her green hair. Her overall style of dress is reminiscent of the costumes worn by the tokusatsu superheroes of late 1950s Japanese television, perhaps meant as a contrast between her age and childish appearance. She was able to maintain her Hollow mask for fifteen hours on her first attempt to control her Hollow, which means she did not need to train like the other visored. She often calls Ichigo Berry-tan, a play on Ichigo's name. She seems to be good friends with Hachigen Ushōda, taking an instant disliking to Orihime Inoue when Hachi befriends her.
Rose
Rose (Rōzu) was the former Captain of the 3rd Division. He became Captain approximately one year before Kisuke Urahara. He is an effeminate man with long, wavy, blond hair and a frilly shirt. He seems to be interested in music, as he speaks to Love about an artist's new single and has been seen playing or tuning a guitar on several occasions. Rose appears to be one of the calmer and perhaps wiser ones amongst the group, though he becomes irritated whenever Love spoils a manga's story for him. His Zanpakutōs hilt is in the shape of a diamond with curved edges, and its sheath is encrusted with diamonds.
Hiyori Sarugaki
Hiyori Sarugaki (Sarugaki Hiyori) was the former 12th Division Lieutenant under Captains Kirio Hikifune and Kisuke Urahara. She is a tiny, blonde-haired girl with a fierce temper and violent tendencies. Her hair is worn in pigtails and she wears a red jogging outfit (which is decorated with the first kanji of her name). She also has a tiny fang on the left side of her mouth. Hiyori often abuses Shinji Hirako, usually by slapping him with one of her sandals. She also has even made it a reflex to use him as a human shield when necessary. This behavior dates back to her time as a Lieutenant, despite the fact that Shinji outranked her then. She viewed Hikifune as a mother figure, and thus refused to accept Urahara as her replacement.
Hiyori took the longest to defeat her inner Hollow out of all the current visoreds (excluding Ichigo, who took about the same amount of time), at 69 minutes and 2 seconds. Hiyori's Zanpakutō is standard in appearance with her tsuba decorated in small hearts, a contrast to her not-so-girlish personality. She normally wears her sword from her right shoulder, like Ichigo. Her Hollow mask is rhinoceros-like in appearance, sporting a prominent horn centered near the forehead.
Hachigen Ushōda
Hachigen Ushōda (Ushōda Hachigen) is the physically largest visored. He was formerly the Lieutenant of the Kido Corps under Tessai Tsukabishi. He wears a tuxedo and has a black crossbone design in his pink hair. He is usually referred to as Hachi (sometimes translated as 'Hutch'), but his actual name is Hachigen. He seems to be a binding spells expert, since he is always tasked with making barriers and such for the visoreds' use. By his own admission, his powers are similar to those of Orihime Inoue's. Despite his unusual size, Hachi is actually very kind and gentle and seems to enjoy Orihime's company.
Lisa Yadōmaru
Lisa Yadōmaru (Yadōmaru Risa) was the former Lieutenant of the 8th Division under Captain Shunsui Kyoraku. She is a girl with glasses and long, braided, dark hair, who dresses in a sailor fuku, as opposed to the more Western-style uniforms worn by the students of Karakura High School. In consistency with her current appearance, her Shinigami uniform during her time in the Gotei 13 had a shortened hakama resembling a skirt. She seems easily irritated and apparently likes to read erotic manga (specifically, Josei manga). Her Zanpakutō is considerably longer than most, making it appear like a nōdachi. She appears to be ambidextrous, initially wielding her Zanpakutō with her left hand and then switching to her right during her fight with Ichigo.
